Application details
The Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry has approved an amendment to the Niagara Escarpment Plan to re-designate these lands from Mineral Resource Extraction Area to Escarpment Protection Area and Escarpment Natural Area. The subject properties are former sand and gravel pits. Both sites have been rehabilitated and the licenses have been surrendered. The sites are currently being used for agricultural and contain natural heritage features. As a result, Town staff are proposing to update Official Plan Schedules in order to conform with and not conflict with the updated designations of the Niagara Escarpment Plan. No development is taking place.
