The FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton is introducing a free art program aimed at connecting preschoolers and veterans through the magic of art.

Milton Veteran Creative Exchange – Empowering Generations Through Art, is a free multi-week, intergenerational arts program open to veterans, adults 55+ and preschoolers. Each week, a preschooler is paired with a veteran or a 55+ adult to partake in art activities and share a snack break together.

The program starts on May 28 and runs Tuesdays at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 136 located at 21 Charles St. Registration is available online.

Interested participants can register individually and will be matched with either a preschooler or senior. Participants can also request their partner by emailing arts@milton.ca after both parties have registered.

The program will run throughout the year in three seasonal installments: spring, summer and fall. A special month-long gallery exhibition at the FirstOntario Arts Centre’s Holcim Gallery will take place in November where participants’ works of art will be displayed.

The Milton Veteran Creative Exchange program is hosted by The FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton in collaboration with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 136. This project was made possible thanks to the funding received from the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP), a federal grants and contributions program that supports community-based projects designed by seniors for seniors
