News release

Milton Council passed policies to manage growth and development in a deliberate way around the Milton GO Station at its meeting on Feb. 28, 2022.

The policies, based off of findings from the Mobility Hub Study, will purposefully guide the development of buildings, homes, businesses, roads, sidewalks, and public spaces in the area within a 10-minute walk of the Milton GO Station. The policy solutions address building heights, density, land use, parking, urban design, and open space. For more details about the policies, read the full Council report.

Through these policies, the vision of a complete, accessible, and walkable community will be realized as the area is redeveloped. This means that housing, offices, stores, restaurants, various transit options (walking, cycling, bus, and rail), and public spaces, will be available within walking distance, while also complementing historic downtown Milton. Once built out, the area will be an urban centre destination for residents and visitors.

The vision of this area was made possible through the Milton community’s significant public participation and feedback in engagement opportunities over the past year, and throughout the overall Mobility Hub Study. Together, we’re making Milton A Place of Possibility.
