Milton Town Council has approved the renaming of two baseball diamonds located within Milton Community Sports Park after two individuals who championed the development of minor baseball in Milton.

Milton Community Park Baseball Diamond #1 will be renamed Pete McMullen Diamond after late Miltonian, Hugh “Pete” McMullen. McMullen helped pioneer the development of minor baseball in Milton, served as the President of the Ontario Baseball Association and the Halton County Baseball Association. McMullen will be inducted as a Builder into the Milton Sports Hall of Fame this November as part of the 2024 Class.

Milton Community Park Baseball Diamond #2 will be renamed Glenn Turner Diamond in honour of Glenn Turner, a life-long Miltonian who dedicated his life to the sport of baseball. He coached Milton’s juvenile and junior-level teams for 15 years. As the general manager of the Milton Red Sox, he won four Ontario Baseball Association championships. Turner also served as an advisor to the Town during the creation of baseball diamonds at Milton Community Park. He was inducted into the Milton Sports Hall of Fame in 2022.

In accordance with the Town’s facility naming and renaming policy, residents were invited to provide their feedback on the proposed renaming through Let’s Talk Milton, the Town’s online engagement platform, earlier this summer.

New signage will be created and placed at the newly renamed baseball diamonds in the coming months.
