The Corporation of the Town of Milton has received a Zoning By-law Amendment application requesting the removal of a Holding (H) symbol. An “H” holding symbol is a mechanism to ensure that certain conditions are met prior to the development of the lands proceeding in accordance with the approved Zoning. If the conditions are met, the Town is required to remove the holding symbol upon application by the landowner, by passing a By-law under Section 36 of the Planning Act.

Council intends to pass an amending by-law to Zoning By-law 016-2014, as amended, at its regular meeting scheduled on June 24, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be held both in person in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Offices, 150 Mary Street, Milton and using electronic video conference technology.

Purpose and effect

Application has been made to lift the “H58” Holding Provision on Lots 181-193 (inclusive) and Block 451 on the Draft Plan of Subdivision (which correspond to Lots 1 -13 (inclusive) and Block 146 on registered plan 20M-1263).

The purpose of the application is to remove the "H58" Holding Provision as the following conditions have been satisfied:

For lands with Holding Provision H58, the H58 Holding Provision shall apply to Lots 181 to 193 (inclusive) and 326 to 431 (inclusive) and Blocks 432 to 435 (inclusive), and Block 451 on the Draft Plan of Subdivision dated February 4, 2022, and not be removed until such time as there is an acceptable storm water management strategy in place to accommodate these units, to the satisfaction of the Town.

The effect of this application is to remove the Holding Provision and permit development of the noted Lots and Blocks to proceed.
