News release

Due to several weeks of freeze-and-thaw cycles, the Town of Milton and community volunteers have been forced to close the outdoor neighbourhood rink program at all four locations:

The outdoor neighbourhood rink program was introduced last October, where groups of neighbours committed to building and operating outdoor ice rinks at a community park for all residents to enjoy, free of charge. This year, Town staff supported the installation of four neighbourhood rinks, trained volunteers, and provided ongoing maintenance tips.

With the outdoor rinks closed for the season, residents are encouraged to explore drop-in skating opportunities available at the Milton Sports Centre and Sherwood Community Centre.

More information about the 2023-24 Outdoor Rink Program will be available in the fall.

Quote

"While it’s unfortunate we couldn’t officially open the rinks due to unfavourable weather conditions, the Town is impressed and appreciative of the efforts put forth by volunteers to establish rinks in four different locations in the community. We look forward to working with neighbourhood groups to reinstate the program again next year."
