Enhancements were implemented this election to make voting more convenient and accessible for voters. While overall voter turnout was lower for the 2022 election versus the 2018 election, the following methods were used by Milton residents to cast their vote. The overall voter turnout was close to 29 per cent. Approximately 11 per cent of all electors cast their ballot at an Advance Poll location in Milton, which included Vote by Mail as a remote voting option. On Election Day, approximately 18 per cent of electors cast their vote at any polling station within their Ward. The addition of these improvements enabled voters to cast their ballot at their convenience creating more accessible channels to vote, and accessing a portion of the voters who may not have typically voted in the past.
The four-year term of office for elected representatives is officially recognized under the Municipal Elections Act to begin on Nov. 15, 2022, through to Nov. 14, 2026. Milton Council will be officially sworn in at the Inaugural Meeting of Milton Council on Nov. 21, 2022, at 7 p.m., at the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton, Mattamy Theatre. Details for this event will soon be available through the Town’s Facebook events.
Council meeting schedules, agendas and minutes are always available online.
