Frequently Asked Questions

Is the indoor turf field a Town facility or a school board facility?

It is both! The Town's timing for indoor turf matched the Halton Catholic District School Board's construction schedule and their plan to install an artificial turf field. This created an opportunity for the Town and the school board to partner to deliver a facility that benefits the entire community.

The students at Jean Vanier Catholic Secondary School will have use of the facility during school hours, and Milton residents will be able to use the space in the evenings and on weekends.

Will it be a seasonal or permanent structure?

The facility will be available for year-round use, in different forms. In the fall and winter, the facility will be operated as an air-supported structure. During the spring and summer months, this structure will be removed and the facility will be operated as an outdoor artificial turf field.

The results of an Indoor Turf Study completed by the Town in 2012 indicated that through a partnership with the school board, the Indoor Turf Centre (including takedown and re-installation each year) would provide significant financial advantages over a permanent facility. The seasonal structure also provides community organizations with the opportunity to offer cost-effective programming in a year-round recreation facility.
